Why Should I Stage My Bedroom? And How?

February 11, 2020

If you have followed us for very long at all, you’ve seen us post about the importance of staging a master bedroom. Over 50% of real estate professionals consider the master bedroom to be the second most important room in the list of staging priorities.

Considering that the average person spends 1/3 of their life asleep, the fact that the bedroom is a critical factor in home staging should come as no surprise.

So what are some simple steps that you can take to increase the desirability of your bedroom?

Well, always consider lighting. While a dark room may be most conducive to a good night’s sleep, it doesn't make for a great showing. The lighter and brighter the bedroom, the larger and more comforting environment you will convey.  Try to keep colors to a minimum and use them as accents only.

When it comes to linens, make sure that your pillows are full and your comforter looks plush and cozy.  As you will notice in many of our bedroom staging photos, a nice soft throw at the bottom of the bed will complete the look of comfort.

Last, but definitely not least, try to create a sitting area when possible. Not all spaces allow for this, but even a small bench can help convert a simple bedroom into a suite.  The ability to use a couple of chairs or a small loveseat is even better.

Remember that the overall feeling you want to convey is that the master bedroom will be a luxurious retreat that they can look forward to coming home to at the end of the day to relax and settle in.  Allow them to imagine curling up and falling asleep peacefully.  This could be the difference between your house and the one down the street.
