Making the Most of Quarantine

While most of us aren’t particularly thrilled with the idea of staying at home, especially as warmer weather and sunny days are abounding around us, there are some things that can be done to make sure your home is in tip-top shape for listing!

The number one (totally free) thing you can do for your home right now is decluttering! There has never been a better time to really decide what you do and don’t need. And if you need it, but don’t need to see it every day, consider some new storage solutions around your home. Nothing makes a space look smaller than too many things that are unnecessary within that space.

Secondly, reevaluate your paint situation. Maybe you need to update what was trending 15 years ago, but isn’t quite cutting it anymore. Did you custom design your kid’s bedroom? Is that bright orange going to appeal to the next homeowner? (Side note… people don’t want to think about everything they are going to have to do after they move in. They want to see the home they’ve dreamed of without envisioning all the work they’d have to put into it.) Repainting your walls is a terrific way to refresh your home’s appearance. And it is a great way to bring a little cheery vibe into these less than cheery times.

Want to make your home look larger? (Again, this is a total freebie!) Consider rearranging your furniture. You’ve got some time to play around with layouts right now to decide what is functional, but also aesthetically pleasing. The placement of furniture can make or break a room.

Want to change things up a little without a lot of expense? Add some new accessories. You may not be able to get to your favorite decor store right now, but thanks to the joys of the internet, you can have everything you need (except maybe toilet paper) delivered right to your door! Try to keep it neutral and don’t bring things in just for the sake of having a new accessory. Remember our first thought… decluttering! But some well-placed artwork, vases, and other small pieces may be just the thing that makes your home feel like THEIR home.
